Pacific Rim: Uprising is now on HBO Now

I recently watched Rampage on Netflix, and as I finished watching Rampage, I discovered that Pacific Rim: Uprising is one more movie I would like to watch on HBO Now.

So, I went ahead and watched Pacific Rim: Uprising. I have to admit, I haven’t seen the original Pacific Rim movie from 2013, but I can at once say, that it is very possible to watch this movie without watching its predecessor first. But, is it worth watching it?

The movie was added to HBO Now in December 2018 (based on my knowledge). It will most likely stay on HBO Now for a couple of months, but I cannot say for sure exactly for how long it will stay. If you want to watch it, go ahead and watch it right away.

Is Pacific Rim: Uprising worth watching?

I have watched a lot of action movies recently, and there are quite some similarities between Pacific Rim: Uprising and Rampage. Both movies contain some superspecial powered creatures, and there are some crazy action scenes taking place in the movie.

Pacific Rim: Uprising takes place in a quite peaceful environment in which they have managed to expel the Kaiju, and the Jeagers is having an easy time keeping order in the streets. But, as always, there is someone causing trouble, and as a result, the Kaiju will once again threaten the earth and all of mankind.

Fighting against them we meet Jake Pentecost, the son of the hero from the original movie, Stacker Pentecost. He doesn’t care much as we meet him in the start of the movie, but as the threat level goes up, he is standing up to take part in the battle.

In general, Pacific Rim: Uprising has received lower ratings and worse critics online than the first movie. I can easily understand that, because this wasn’t much to rejoice about. The action scenes are nice, and it is fun watching the robots fight against one another, but the story in itself doesn’t grab a hold of you, and it is honestly, quite boring.

If you are a fan of this sort of movies, you might like it, but if you just want to watch a great action movie, I would much rather recommend Rampage!
